Nelly Korda has been a mainstay near the top of the Rolex Rankings since her breakthrough win at the 2018 Taiwan Swinging Skirts LPGA. Since then, she has won three more times, including last fall at the 2020 Gainbridge LPGA.
The 22-year-old has ranked top-five in then world since 2019 and is currently the top-ranked American in both the Rolex Rankings and Olympic Golf Rankings at No. 4 overall.
With the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 quickly approaching, Korda has positioned herself inside the top-four Americans to garner consideration. The top-15 players in the Olympic Golf Rankings will be eligible for the Olympics with up to a maximum of four golfers per country. Currently for Team USA, the top-four Americans include Korda (No. 4), Danielle Kang (No. 5), Lexi Thompson (No. 8) and Jennifer Kupcho (No. 13).
Lately, Korda has strengthened her status atop the Ranking with finishes of T10-T3-T2 over her last three starts, including the T3 finish at the LPGA Tour’s first major of the year, the ANA Inspiration.
“You know, I'm happy with a second finish,” said Korda after her most recent runner-up finish at the LOTTE Championship. “You never complain finishing second in a tournament. Left a lot out there, but Lydia [Ko] played so well. It was her time.”
